For some people, they thought the journey to parenthood would be straightforward. For others, and for a variety of reasons, they knew the path to parenthood would be a bit more complex. About 10% of individuals who are able to carry a pregnancy find themselves facing issues with infertility. Additionally, one in every four pregnancies ends in a pregnancy loss. When we find ourselves dealing with fertility issues, or are experiencing a miscarriage or pregnancy loss, it can be so difficult to find the words to be able to talk about this with others. The emotional stress, physical impact and in many cases, financial burdens that come along with the struggle of infertility and pregnancy loss can be overwhelming. This impacts cisgender people, trans* folx, families, singles, young and middle aged, gay couples, straight couples, and surrogates.
My goal is to help clients, create a space, regardless of gender, where they feel comfortable to talk about some of the hardest parts of this experience and to honor your feelings whether they be of grief, sadness, anger, indifference, or elation, all of the above, or something in between.
